Sweet Reunion, Sutter's Bay 1 New Cover

Coming to Amazon Kindle Unlimited Program on June 01, 2016 through JMS Books, is Sweet Reunion the first book of my Sutter's Bay series. JMS is releasing the entire Sutter's Bay series over the next several months.  Here is my new cover for Sweet Reunion.

Thursday Updates

I am very close indeed to being done with The Beach House. I have one scene left in the current chapter which I shall most certainly finish today and then one final resolution chapter. I thought I'd fit it into one but alas I need one more. I think I am still on target to be finished by May 31.

That will mean beginning June 01, I will be giving my writing attention full time to Jude and Rex (Twice in a Lifetime). Jude was the British florist with green hair in Sweet Reunion for anyone who read that book. Many readers have been asking for his story. The good news since I am already a few chapters into that one I should have it finished by the end of June.

Not sure what, if anything, I will post tomorrow, but Saturday I might post an excerpt from June's release, His One and Only, the final Only Forever story. Skip it if you don't like to read excerpts before the books comes out.

A Sweet Thanksgiving, Part Two

They’d put away the groceries and Danny was putting both pies in the oven to cook. Now there wouldn’t be anything keeping Jason from attacking Danny.

Danny’s jeans stretched across his cute ass as he bent over, peering in at the pies. His rust colored sweatshirt had inched up, revealing the creamy white skin of his back. Jason’s mouth watered at the sight. Jason’s hands reached for those two perfect globes, his fingers curving around each tight cheek.

“Hey,” Danny protested weakly.
“Hey yourself. Stop messing with that and come to bed with me.”

Danny straightened and dodged Jason’s grabbing hands. One dark curl rested on his forehead as he grinned. “Maybe we should wait until the pies are out of the oven.”

Jason frowned. “When the hell is that?”

Danny picked up the boxes and read. “Um, like an hour.”

“Oh, hell, no, you get your bare ass in the bedroom now.” Jason reached around and smacked Danny’s playfully on his butt.

Danny yelped, a little too dramatically Jason thought, and ran for the bedroom. He chased after him, catching his lover just as he neared the bed and pushing him on the big mattress face down. His fingers slipped into the waistband of Danny’s jeans and he started tugging them off his slim hips. Danny lifted up just a bit, offering him an easy way to wrench them off, without even needing to unfasten them. He was grateful that Danny always kicked off his shoes as soon as he got inside the house.

After he threw the jeans across the room, Jason peeled off his boxer briefs next. “Take off your sweatshirt.”

Jason removed his own clothes and went into the bathroom for the lube and condoms under his sink. He hoped they’d be able to forgo the rubbers within a few months.

Danny kneeled on the bed, his erection jutting between his thighs, gesturing for Jason to come lay down on his back on the bed. “I wanna straddle you.”

Jason exhaled and decided to close his eyes for a moment or two before going to check on the pies.

Ah...the Heartache

Recently, several people have mentioned my latest release, Sweet Reunion, is me returning to the angst-loving voice. I admit I did have a few lighter romances recently, most notably Car Wash and Beyond the Norm, but others were probably not up to the angst found in Perfect Man or Trust or even At Long Last.

When I set out to write Sweet Reunion, I didn't really think, wow I haven't written anything pain-filled lately. Honest! It's just that as I started writing Jason Sweet the character went that way for me.

It's true I do like angst. I think that is why Ava March and I work so well together. We both like the angst. Though, you know, once I suggested only half-kidding that we should co-author a book together and she didn't even respond, lol! Don't know what that says.

I have to admit though, that my next few books are probably going to be on the more heart-breaking side. I don't mean my next two releases, Ticket to Ride (you'll have to decide if this is angst-filled or not) and The Best Gift (it's a Christmas story remember), but rather the next several projects.

So, um, yeah, I will say now, that if angsty romances are not your thing, you might want to stay away from those set in Sutter's Bay for sure. So, as my dear friend, Jack, said the "angsty Shawn is back".

Tried for Progress and Failed

I actually opened the file for Twice in a Lifetime last night all prepared to write the next part. Proud of myself even. Unfortunately the version I had at home was not the latest version, that version was at work. Sigh.

I shall try again today.

I've been talking with some fellow authors (Devon and Ava) about turning Sutter's Bay into a series. Sutter's Bay is where Sweet Reunion takes place and also Twice in a Lifetime. I already have an idea for a third story involving the diner owner, Adam, who appears in Twice in a Lifetime. I briefly mentioned his hero-to-be character in Sweet Reunion for those that read that book or plan to. Anyway the hero for Adam would be Harris who broke up with Danny from Sweet Reunion. Trust me, Harris will have his work cut out for him convincing Adam to be with him.

Anyway, that would already make for three books set in my fictional bay town in Northern California. So why not more? I'll have to give it some thought. I've had readers ask me to consider doing a series before so it is an option.

...Danny gasped for breath even as Jason’s tongue invaded his mouth. He’d thought for a moment he was going to have to make a move on Jason tonight like he had before when they were younger, so Jason knocking him to the mattress stunned him.

His heart slamming hard in his chest, Danny inched his hands underneath Jason’s shirt and fanned his fingers over the warm, soft flesh of his abdomen. Jason’s bare skin almost scorched him.

Jason growled low in his throat and flipped him so Danny lay on top. Jason grabbed Danny’s ass, grinding their pelvises together.

Danny moaned and reached for the buttons of Jason’s shirt. He slid the buttons from their holes and eased it off his shoulders, his fingertips grazing the hard muscles of Jason’s arms.

Tearing his lips from Danny’s, Jason rasped, “Have to get you naked.”

Ah, A Long Weekend

Nothing all that new and exciting to report.

Beyond the Norm seems to be doing well in its first couple days of release so I am pleased about that.

I got my galley for Sweet Reunion so I will be going over that over the long weekend.

And my few days of rest after completing Ticket to Ride must officially come to an end and work begins in earnest on Twice in a Lifetime.

Also the most generous Barbara of the fabulous blog, Happily Forever After, who did some work on Ava March's blog has generously offered to tweak mine if I so desire and of course I do. So watch out for a new look sometime soon (got to figure out what I want).

Friday Excerpt

Later in September (09/19/09), Sweet Reunion will be released from Amber Quill. Now it is too early to begin any sort of giveaway, but I thought I'd put a little teaser on here today for the book.

“I’ve got her settled in for the night,” Jason announced to him later that night after they’d eaten and done the dishes. They stood on the front porch, gazing up at the stars and the rolling waves of the ocean.

“You’re so gentle and kind with her, Jason. I’m really impressed.”

“Well, she is my mother.”Danny nodded. “Yeah, but I know lots of guys who wouldn’t be so forgiving as you.”

Jason exhaled. “It’s not been easy. Do I wish she’d done more to stand up for me and be a part of my life? Sure. But she was a victim of him too, and it’s hard to hate her, especially now.”

“I feel the same way. She’s so weak and frail. I just…wish someone in your family besides Kent had been on your side. You know? I know it would have been hard for her to leave him and take you all somewhere safe. Hell, if she had done that, you would have been gone out of my life so much sooner. It’s just I wanted you to have a family like mine. My mother and grandfather were so great to me, I wish you could have had that.”

“I know,” Jason said softly. “And I was such an ass to you.”

“Nah.”

“Yeah. I couldn’t wait to get away from Sutter’s Bay and everything to do with it because of my dad.” Jason grasped Danny’s hand and threaded his fingers with Danny’s. “Only that meant getting away from you, too. I thought that was what I wanted. What I needed.”

“It’s okay, Jason.”He shook his head. “No, it wasn’t. God, Danny, how can you just stand here and be so casual about this? Act like it was nothing. We were everything to each other. Best friends, first lovers. I just threw that away.”

Danny looked away and bit his lip. “What do you want me to say, Jason? That it hurt me? Okay. It did. I was devastated. You ripped my heart into shreds. Happy?”

Jason gripped Danny’s upper arms tightly. “No,” he whispered.

Jason pulled Danny closer, brushing his lips over the other man’s in a light, almost hesitant kiss.Danny whimpered and pushed himself closer still to Jason, their bodies melding together. He forced his tongue into Jason’s mouth. He tasted of the orange spice tea he’d been drinking. Danny slipped his hands down to cup Jason’s ass, pressing their jean covered erections together.The screech of a bat directly over their heads broke them apart, reminding them they were outside on the front porch.Danny smiled and stroked his thumb over Jason’s bottom lip.

Jason came back outside pulling a sweatshirt over his head. He smiled. “Okay, let’s go.”

Upcoming Projects

I've come up with a name for my sequel to The Other Side and that is...The Same Side. I wanted it to match with the first one but I kind of felt The Other Side 2 didn't quite work. So, when I begin it, which will not, hopefully, be in the too distant future it will be The Same Side.



To just give you an idea where I plan to take the characters of Ray and Nick, I will say that Nick will still be a cop, but he will be taking on a very dangerous undercover operation that will drive a very serious wedge between the couple. You'll get the answer as to whether Ray won a seat on the city council and Ray's brother, Devon, will come out as gay himself.



The other project I plan on tackling next does not yet have a title. It will involve a secondary character from my September release, Sweet Reunion.



But first, I am working like mad on Ticket to Ride. I need to get my murder mystery romantic suspence tale done in just about three weeks.

I finished my work in progress (which means it is no longer in progress), Sweet Reunion, and I have a release date of September 20, 2009.

Just Some Updates

Two guys kissing, sigh. Something so sexy about that.

Things are going along fine with Beyond the Norm coming from Dreamspinner. Got my draft cover and I think the final product will be great. They took my request for Kyle to appear Goth on the cover to heart which really pleases me. The blurb for the book is also done. I cannot wait for the book to make its debut later this summer.

Sweet Reunion is coming along well, too. I'm past the first two chapters and about to cross the 5,000 word mark. I submitted the forms to Amber Quill for it, too. I still intend to be finished with it by next Sunday, July 5, 2oo9.

Once Sweet Reunion is done I will return to full time work on Ticket to Ride so I can get that obligation (due September 01) out of the way and I can move on to something else.

New Work In Progress

Working on something new. I hope to have it done and off to Amber Quill by the end of the Independence Day Weekend here in the United States. If I can manage, shortly after I should have a release date. Will post further details as they become available.
