So, this is December now so I am scheduling when you can expect my free stories. Or at least some of them. lol.
I will post the first installment of Last Christmas on Monday, December 6, 2010. At this point I am still working on the story so I am not sure how many installments it will be. I'll probably be posting the story on Mondays and Thursdays so be sure to stop in for those days. This is a brand new couple I have never written before so you won't have to read anything prior to them to read this story. The names are A.J. Porter and Carter Thorne.
I'm planning on posting Kevin's little Christmas story the week of December 20, 2010 so you Kevin groupies can look forward to that.
I was reviewing my releases for 2010 and I managed 10 releases for the year (including The Naughty Ones, releasing on December 12, 2010). Should be interesting to see how many I can manage for 2011. I've already managed to schedule two, one in January and one in February. This is ahead of 2010 since my first release wasn't until March (and yes this did make me breakout in hives).
Oh and the release date for Pulling Apart has moved up two weeks to January 09, 2011.
Also, Chris @ Stumbling Over Chaos will be hosting a contest for me for The Naughty Ones, beginning on December 06th, I believe.
Anyway, I am also on the lookout for pictures of hot guys that look Christmasy or Holidayish. So, if anyone knows of some or has seen some, drop me an email at authorshawnlane@gmail.com.

Thursday Updates
I managed to finish the short story I was working on so since I already know who the publisher will be, I should have release information available in the very near future.
In other news...oh, wait. Is there other news?
Not really. I promised EH I'd write a free Christmas story starring her favorite of my characters, Kevin. I sort of started it but it hasn't really gone anywhere. I expect to finish it off once the story I am working on is safely in the queue for release. Then I simply must get back to The Impersonator which is due by the end of the year. I've gotten quite a jump on it though so I'm really not worried.
Last year I did some free Thanksgiving stories, but I simply do not have time for those this year. I may post the dates where those stories can be found this Thanksgiving so if there are new blog lurkers they can check them out.
Now..back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Thursday Updates
So, as I changed my calendar earlier this week to November, I happened to notice that only three weeks from today is Thanksgiving in the U.S. This is the one holiday that is actually done at my house (starting about 4 years ago), so it's rather startling to see how quickly it will be upon us.
It also means I really need to crack down and get that story I'm working on done so I can quickly get back to The Impersonator. I need to meet my deadline. What seemed like plenty of time for everything now doesn't seem like much time at all.
I wish I could write as fast as I once did. Alas, those days are mostly gone.

Thursday Thoughts
I'm working on a secret project, lol. I've deicded not to mention it until I have news about it. Of course I am mentioning it sort of, huh.
I'm actually away right now so have set up blog posts in advance.
So...Hope it's going well for everyone.

Thursday Thoughts
So as you may or may not know, I do a lot of my writing at lunch at the evil day job. The other day I sat down to write on the current chapter of the work in progress, The Impersonator, when I realized I didn't have the most updated version at work that day.
Pushing aside my irritation at myself, I decided not to waste the time and I began writing the third Sutter's Bay story, Galaxy's Heart. So, I think, at the moment anyway, that Galaxy's Heart. will be the next story out in 2011 other than The Impersonator.
Already I've found another character who seems to be wanting his own Sutter's Bay story so I think that gives me four or five stories in the series.
In other news, Manfred's Curse is my next release in just over three weeks. My first foray into shapeshifting, but perhaps not my last. Manfred's Curse is very short though, just about 6,000 words, which makes it my shortest story I believe. In other words don't expect too many details...sordid or otherwise...but I hope you will enjoy the little fun story I wrote.
It's hard to believe October is almost half over already and soon November will be upon us. November is one of my favorite months, it's representative of Fall for me. And as we know, before we know it, November will be but a memory and December and all that comes with that month will be here. I am going to be so very, very busy this December. I have a number of holiday-themed events already planned, so I don't know how much writing will get done. I hope some. EH has managed to talk me into writing a free story for December, of course. She's quite persuasive.
Anyway, I've babbled on enough for today. Have a good day.

Thursday Updates
Wracking my brain for something to write for the blog. It kind of sucks not really having news to report.
Going over my galley for Twice in a Lifetime. At 28,000 words it's now the longest Shawn Lane offering.
At the moment I am working on sex (the first one) on my short Christmas story, The Naughty Ones. It takes me longer to write sex scenes than it takes my characters to have sex. Much longer. What amounts to a few pages in a story, sometimes a few paragraphs, takes me days to get it on the page. Truly pathetic.
The Christmas story isn't going to be terribly long. I'm making it short on purpose because while I want to write it, I have too many other things to write to devote a lot of words to it. Still, I think most readers will like it. Once it is finished, I'll hopefully have news regarding it.
I was working on it and Accidentally His at the same time, but I think I'm going to finish off The Naughty Ones first and then get back to finishing Accidentally His. I vow to have The Naughty Ones done by the end of the month, and that's the real end, not Ava March's idea of the end of the month (she is sneaky with the dates). Hopefully even before, but at the moment I'm not too hopeful on that score.
In case anyone is interested here are the blurbs for the next upcoming work in progresses. They aren't official blurbs and, as always, are subject to editorial whim.
Accidentally His
Kirk rides the bus to work several times a week, intriqued by the quiet bespectacled man he sits behind. When the bus crashes during a storm, Kirk finally meets the shy man, Elijah. Though an unfortunate event brought them together, Kirk is determined to show their love is no accident.
The Naughty Ones
Being a Christmas Elf is hard work and when Christian's best friend and the man he crushes on talks of marriage to his new girlfriend, Christian wonders if the end of the Christmas Season also means the end of his time at the North Pole. But when acting out earns him some dentention working for the Head Elf, Gabriel, Christain learnd what it really means to be naughty.
The Impersonator (Masquerade)
Benjamin Pomeroy thinks his older brother's request for him to take his place at a Masquerade Ball given by their new boss at the Las Vegas Hotel they both work at is harmless enough. After all, he'll be wearing a mask the entire time and the only part of him that will be visible is his eyes, eyes just like his brother's. Benjamin hasn't met the new boss yet. All he knows is the boss is from New Orleans originally and is very fond of Mardi Gras, thus the Masquerade Ball to introduce himself to the more important employees of the hotel. Something Benjamin is not. His job is to impersonate Elvis at the front entrance of the casino. But during the ball, he'll be impersonating his straight brother while trying to ignore his attraction to their extremely attractive and openly gay boss, Maxwell Orton.

Updates

So as EVERYONE knows by now, Shayne is my bff. Well, unfortunately, both of us are currently going through severe withdrawals. He often has issues with his internet service provider (a very famous one who widely advertises about how great they are and have the iphone, I'm sure you can guess who, lol). Anyway, apparently his internet and phone service was out since Sunday. The lovely, Brent, sent me a note advising me that Shayne asked him to relay this information to me. So, yeah, he finally got it back today but he’s busy now and so we haven't talked for days. Big time sucks, too.
I'm no longer waiting for covers. Oh, wait. I am. Sort of. I don't have a cover for the paperback collection of Only Forever coming in July. Which reminds me, I have a form to complete for that. Swell. I hate forms.
The Beach House is going very well and if all goes as I plan, I should have it finished by Memorial Day. That's a full month in advance of the deadline. Since that one is part of the Hot Summer Daze themed series I won't be waiting for a cover for that when it's turned in but I will let you know about a release date once I have turned it in.
My other intention is to have Twice in a Lifetime (Jude's story) done by the end of June. It works for me to give myself deadlines, trust me. If I don't, nothing gets done. Once those two stories are finished I will be working full time on The Same Side so I can have it done this summer. I need to get Sorcerer's Lover 3 done too.
I admit I'm stalling somewhat on the co-authored book with Ava March. She's not pushing me too hard to finish the first chapter because she's got her own book she is working diligently on but at some point I expect I will need to step up and get it done.
I've run into a bit of an obstacle with Sinful. For those not paying attention, lol, and who would, this is a medieval paranormal fantasy novel (mouthful that one). I freely admit it started out as a het book so it has been a huge, huge, huge challenge to turn it into m/m. I am determined to get it done by the end of 2010 though even if it kills me (it might).
And that's the news from Shawn Lane Land.

Didn’t do a whole lot over the weekend. Wrote a maybe three paragraphs on The Beach House, even less on Twice in a Lifetime (one paragraph), and worked a bit on a medieval fantasy novel.

Tuesday and Rain
Take a look at the date on the calendar. April 20. It's supposed to rain here tonight. It never rains here this late in the season. I know it does elsewhere but here, no. So, yeah I am skeptical.
I completed the first chapter of my untitled story involving Maurice and Lance from Still the One. They are the waiter and sous-chef Dusty had coffee with. Maurice is balding and Lance is British.
I'm not sure how well this will go with a balding hero. I thought about asking if anyone would read about a bald hero but decided I found Bruce Willis and Ed Harris sexy, so what the hell. We'll see how it goes. But that's basically what I have been working on for the last five days or so. That and goofing off and mourning the desktop.
Of course, Calvin's story doesn't even come out for another month and I am already getting excited for it.
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday (Shawn's least favorite day of the week)

Just a few more quick things.

I'll announce the winner of Only For Him Saturday.
I won't be posting an excerpt this Saturday because I just don't want to. LOL. Look for it to come back NEXT Saturday.
I'm excited for Only For Him to come out. I've been talking up Barnaby for ages. I hope you'll like him as much as I do. Hopefully, Nathan won't come off as too much of a prick! lmao.
Don't forget to check Friday for author, Andi Anderson's interview.
