A Few Things

Since I have nothing coming out for a while, I still feel the need to provide an update so you don't forget I exist!

I'm well into Sutter's Bay 4, which now officially has the title of Finding Forever. This is Leo's story. I know many people might have assumed that Leo was going to be matched with Tony, Galaxy's friend, but I decided to match Leo with someone his own age. If you wonder what might be in store for future stories for Sutter's Bay, I have one in mind for Rex's troubled brother, Steve (mentioned in Twice in a Lifetime) as the next Sutter's Bay story (#5). Tony will probably conclude the series at #6 unless I suddenly get inspired to write more stories from that little town. At the moment, though, I have no plans to go beyond #6.

And speaking of series I do have a story in mind for the next "His" book but not sure when I can get to writing it. This one will go way back to Regency times. I don't write too many historicals these days but I can't totally seem to get away from them since I once only read and wrote historicals myself. For the most part I feel I have a contemporary voice, but this is a story I've been wanting to write for a long time, so I am going to do so. When, beats me.

Further speaking of series books, I have an idea for a trilogy. Related books similar to the Only series, in that each book will feature a different couple but are related to the others. Not sure when I will get to those books either. Probably late 2012.

Up next on the writing agenda following Finding Forever is my fairytale sleeping beauty story, Waking the Prince. I started this story some time ago, originally for a sub call for another publisher. I never got it finished in time fore that and have been messing with it ever since. But AQ decided to do a fairytale Pax collection and with Waking the Prince in mind, I signed up for it. I have to have it finished by September 01, but I've got a jump on it and am really happy with what I've got so far, so I think I can get it done in plenty of time for the deadline.

Finally, the first six "His" stories will be available sometime in May in a paperback. I don't have a cover yet but it will show up there on the side when I do.

That's pretty much it as far as updatess for me.

Not Much Going On

At the moment, I'm being lazy and not writing. It won't last. I am reviewing my galley for the upcomining release of Lost Between. Once I've finished that I intend to be unlazy again. I think I short-circuited my brain after writing Can't Be His but it's coming back. Once it does, I'll be working on More Than Anything as I have two stories to finish by September 01.

Up To

So what have I been up to?

Still working on The Way To Forever. I hope to have the darn thing done by the end of the month (April).

I've started another story (please don't ask, my head will explode) where I've gotten nearly 2000 words done on it. I suspect it is my way of procrastinating on The Way to Forever.

I have ZERO releases in April. Yeah I'm shaking with angst over it right this minute. I'll get over it though. I hope.

Tonight I'm watching The Sixth Sense, one of my favorite movies. It would scare Ava, lol.

Here's a nice little picture for you.

A Minor Update

It would seem the middle of the country is bracing for a giant storm. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they are saying.

At least if it is that bad I hope you get to stay at home where you can put the heat on and drink nice warm drinks.

As for me, same old, same old. Working away on the latest WIP. Drew wanted me to post to my blog again so thus, here I am. I'm only working on one at a time this time, which I feel must be different for me as generally I'm always poking at something else while the main one brews. This time Galaxy's Heart has my full attention.

So, that's the latest and the greatest from sunny Southern California (and yes, I did have to get that in).

Updates

Updates are going here today since I’ve been posting free holiday stories on normal update days.

I’ve been working on Accidentally His again lately. I hope to have it completed by the middle of January, if not before. I should have another story related to this one but with different heroes later in 2011.

I’d like to turn my attention to Galaxy’s Heart, Sutter’s Bay 3, once Accidentally His is finished. If I can get that story done by the end of February or earlier, that should still give me plenty of time to work on my “Postcards From Paradise” story I volunteered for at AQ. My paradise vacation story will be in Ireland though. That’s paradise to me.

Once that is done, I have to look to my other obligated story, which is a ghost story. Yes, you can hear the enthusiasm, can’t you? Just how do you get a HEA when one of your heroes has been dead for hundreds of years? Beats me, too. But I shall try.

As you can see, this is already taking up the first six months of 2011. Sigh. And there is a story I really want to get to. Ah, well, I’ll get to it and several others before 2011 is finished, I am sure.

Speaking of free stories, Kevin’s latest free story, Viva Las Christmas, will be posted on Monday, December 20th, if it kills me. Might. At this point I am looking at one long part but I may be forced to split it into two. I’ll try not to make it too many parts though.

Once that free story is finished posting, I will be posting a best wishes for the holiday season blog and probably taking the remainder of 2010 off, with the blog returning January 03, 2011 (in time for a contest for my first release, Pulling Apart).

Some Updates

I hope everyone in the United States is having a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend. I know I ate too much yesterday, but it was still a great time. Now onto Christmas! lol.

I did have a productive few days in that I finished The Impersonator. Go me! And I was the first author at Amber Allure to get my masquerade story in (the stories are supposed to be done Dec 01-Jan 01) and therefore I think I will also have the pleasure of having the first one to be released. I have a tentative release of February 20, 2011.

On the way home from work the other day I heard a Christmas song on the radio (yes a radio station in LA started their 24 hours of Christmas songs before Thanksgiving) that had me thinking of another Christmas story. It's too late to have that story published, so I think it's going to be another free story from me. It will be new characters too. So look for that sometime in December. I will provide more information about it later.

Otherwise, I'm chillin'.

Thursday Updates

I am very close indeed to being done with The Beach House. I have one scene left in the current chapter which I shall most certainly finish today and then one final resolution chapter. I thought I'd fit it into one but alas I need one more. I think I am still on target to be finished by May 31.

That will mean beginning June 01, I will be giving my writing attention full time to Jude and Rex (Twice in a Lifetime). Jude was the British florist with green hair in Sweet Reunion for anyone who read that book. Many readers have been asking for his story. The good news since I am already a few chapters into that one I should have it finished by the end of June.

Not sure what, if anything, I will post tomorrow, but Saturday I might post an excerpt from June's release, His One and Only, the final Only Forever story. Skip it if you don't like to read excerpts before the books comes out.

Until next time...

Some News

Okay lots of news today!

I have finished the last Only Forever story, His One and Only. We’re looking at a June 20, 2010 release for that one. That concludes the series so as Shayne would say, go me!

I also now have a release date for Pieces and that is July 18, 2010.

Also sometime in July will be the release of Only Forever, the entire series in a paperback collection.

Sometime in the near future, I’ll be posting an interview with author, Andi Anderson. So keep your eyes peeled for that.

Speaking of interviews, I sent the questions to Ashtyn Long and I’m just waiting for his answers. I know he’s been busy with work and life, but have no fear the interview is still on the horizon.

Monday Updates

Okay, let's see.

Don't forget to enter to win a copy of Still the One, releasing sometime this coming weekend. It is part of the best friends pax, From This Moment On, which includes five stories, but can also be purchased individually. The contest runs through Friday, April 9th.

Talked to the BFF Sunday for a couple hours or so and he's doing better but is still fighting his illness. Getting a little better every day though.

Got my galley for Still the One and I'm looking forward to its release. I think you will find it to be a cute, sweet story (no worries there is sex).

Made a bit of progress on His One and Only on Friday but not much over the weekend. Still I suspect I only have two-three chapters to go before I have that one finished.

Have a good week everyone.

No News Tuesday

Well I wish I had news to report but I do not. I am in limbo mode at the moment.

Waiting on cover art, contract offers, releases, news of bff. Just waiting.

Well, that isn't entirely true. I did hear from Jack this morning and Shayne is still quite sick. They had to increase his medicine. Hopefully he will improve very soon.

I got about 600 words or so done yesterday on His One and Only which takes me past 6000 words. Since the story will be at least twice that you can see I still have my work cut out for me. Fortunately I don't have any specific deadline for this but of course the sooner I can finish the sooner I can get a release date and the series will be concluded. I'll have the four stories in print at that point or shortly thereafter for anyone interested.

I've had mostly positive reaction from Only in His Dreams. As I said I think Barnaby will end up being quite popular when his book comes out next month. I have two coming in April so that's pretty cool.

Other than that, I am afraid I am boring today.

It's Friday

My bff, Shayne, isn’t feeling well again. So well wishes and love to him.

Only In His Dreams comes out sometime this weekend. Not sure when or what day as Amber Quill releases it at their whim. I hope those who buy it will enjoy the first one of the series.

The winner, whoever, they may be, will need to email me their email address @ authorshawnlane@gmail.com so I can send them their book on Sunday. PDF is usually what I send but I can send just about any other format besides print.

Today I will be working madly on the final sex scene for Pieces. I’ll be out most of the day on Saturday. Not sure yet what I will post for tomorrow’s excerpt. I’ll also be blogging at Amber Quill’s blog about the Only series.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

You Know How I Feel About Tuesdays

A couple reminders first.

Don’t forget to enter to win Only In His Dreams being released this weekend.

Don’t forget to send me any questions you have for Ashtyn. A few of you have but not as many as I thought would.

The work-in-progress is going pretty well, I think. My intention is to have it done no later than the end of March and hopefully before. Then I will be sending it off for review.

His One and Only, the fourth and final story in my only series, is on temporary hold while I finish the story noted above. Once it’s off I will finish His One and Only.

Most of you are aware my bff is Shayne. He has been strongly suggesting an idea for a story that he would very much like to see me write. I am afraid I indulged him and agreed to do it.

Now I don’t know whether you are aware, but Amber Quill’s Allure line has opened for submissions for certain themes. The information can be found on the website but one of the themes is Hot Summer Daze and is supposed to involve summer love affairs (that become much more). The story Shayne wants me to write fit in well here, therefore, I will be releasing a story as part of the series and my story is called, The Beach House.

I will provide more details as to content later when I begin to write it.

Friday Updates

So, I didn’t get quite as much done Thursday on the current wip. Understandable given the day. Still I got about 500 words.

Monday I will begin the giveaway for Only In His Dreams. Wow, does it seem like forever since I had a release? It does to me. I’m excited to finally have a release coming up. As you know, Only In His Dreams is the first story in my Only series.

Saturday’s excerpt will be from Only In His Dreams but I think I am going to use the one that gives you a taste of Barnaby and Nate from Only For Him, coming in April.

Not sure who will appear as candy yet on Sunday. I’ll find something.

Smokin'

I have been smoking hot writing on my latest WIP (ask Ava) and I am way pleased with the progress! And no I won't say which one right now. It's a secret. Let's just say it's loaded with angst. Just what I need to write at the moment.

About Kevin...

For anyone who cares to read it, Kevin's Perfect Christmas should make its debut on Monday, December 14, 2009. I don't know how many parts it will be as it is still a work in progress. My guess is about four, but I can't say for sure. I'm not even sure when the subsequent parts will be posted. I am very busy right now working on Only In His Dreams as well as getting ready for the real holidays like most everyone else.

Basically the premise is it is Christmas Eve and Kevin has invited his very good friends, Noah and Charlie over to share the night with him and Michael. Pretty simple, no? It should be cute and sweet and maybe a little hot but no angst or unhappiness as it is Christmas after all!

Ah, A Long Weekend

Nothing all that new and exciting to report.

Beyond the Norm seems to be doing well in its first couple days of release so I am pleased about that.

I got my galley for Sweet Reunion so I will be going over that over the long weekend.

And my few days of rest after completing Ticket to Ride must officially come to an end and work begins in earnest on Twice in a Lifetime.

Also the most generous Barbara of the fabulous blog, Happily Forever After, who did some work on Ava March's blog has generously offered to tweak mine if I so desire and of course I do. So watch out for a new look sometime soon (got to figure out what I want).

Progress is Made

After a not so successful weekend, I am making decent progress today on Ticket to Ride. I've got close to 1,000 words done and that's just on a break and lunch at the EDJ. Pretty cool. I'm hoping tonight I can finish up the chapter.

I broke the 15,000 word mark too so I think by the time it's finished it will officially be novella length. I figure I have 2-3 chapters left. Can I finish it off by September 01? Um, well, I don't know, honestly. That's just a week away. But if not by then, not too many days after.

I can already see a sequel to these two, Chad and Jack, coming in the future. Thankfully if it does come down to a sequel it won't be until spring 2010. I have way too much to write now to even think of it now.

When this is over, I think in the last few months of this year (Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec), I can get maybe two stories done. One will be Twice in a Lifetime. This is the story of Jude, my rather flamboyant Englishman from September's release of Sweet Reunion. Jude is definitely insisiting he is next. Depending on how long Jude's story takes it is possible I can get to another story, but no promises, especially since I also plan on writing and posting the Christmas stories for my heroes in Pulling Away and Car Wash.

Still if Twice in a Lifetime ends up being the last book I write this year, I think I've had a very, very full year of releases and hopefully 2010 will bring many more.

A Requested Update

My friend, Ryan, who checks out my blog on a regular basis complained that I hadn't updated it all week so this is for him.

As you probably know, I have no releases in August, so it's difficult for me to find much to post about.

I will say that I am going right along on my song-themed story, Ticket to Ride. I just crossed the 12,000 words mark and expect it will end somewhere around 20,000 words when I end. Which is novella length.

Unfortunately, Ticket to Ride is part of the song themed PAX collection for Amber Quill and though it wasn't due until September 01, five other AQ authors beat me. Their stories are already done and submitted. So, my story will not be part of the first collection being released in November. Bummer.

No worries, though, it will be released either in December as part of a second collection or on its own.

Beyond the Norm, my goth/biker story, releases in less than three weeks so I will do a giveaway closer to the date.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ordinary Updates

First, I want to thank all those who so far have entered to receive the print anthology. I really appreciate it. Contest ends Friday and then Randomizer will choose a winner Saturday. I've caught all your entries even if I don't say so.

Second, I finished my short story for Christmas, The Best Gift. I am going to be sending to Dreamspinner Press in the very near future. It's quite short, under 10,000 words. I need to do some last minute polishing and a dreaded synopsis and then I can get it sent off. If Dreamspinner does not want it, I will probably offer it as a free story at Christmas time. I'll keep everyone posted.

I need to get back to Ticket to Ride, my m/m romantic suspense due September 01, but first I have received my edits for Sweet Reunion and since that book is already contracted it takes precedence. Hopefully I can get back to Ticket to Ride in about a week. That still gives me almost the entire month of August to complete it.

After that...it's any body's guess which story I will tackle next. Might possibly be the lord's son and butler story set in the Regency period, Undeniable. Several people have been bugging me about that one.
