The Beach House and Morro Bay

In under a month The Beach House will be released. I'm personally excited about this release (I love all my releases of course) because Mason is a personal favorite character of mine. I won't say he's my favorite but he's among them.

There's a couple reasons for that. Some of you may remember a few months ago when I was promised an interview by a certain gay male model. Said model actually was the one who approached me about it. It never happened...okay you know the saying about shit happening. I moved on.

But during that time my dear Shayne and I talked about this person and how Shayne thought I should write a story around a similar character and make the story end the way I would like it to...happily of course. And so with my beautiful Shayne's suggestion I wrote Mason who is a male model who has had some hard things happen in his life.

Anyway...he ends up in my favorite place, Morro Bay, where he meets John.

On a recent trip to Morro Bay, I took some pictures of places that appear in The Beach House and just the general town so when you read the story you can see it. So, over the next few Thursdays, I'm going to post the pictures I took there for your entertainment (at least I hope so).

Today is my mom's 84th birthday!

So, that's pretty cool, I think.

I'm lucky I've had this many years with her. I hope to have a few more, of course. Three years ago she was diagnosed with colon cancer, but after some scary things, she's been doing very well.

But I know I am lucky. I lost my father some years ago now. Far too young as far as I'm concerned. Many people don't get to have their parents or a parent around as long as my mother has been for me.

She's funny. Very recently she discovered I wrote m/m romance. She knew I wrote "naughty" books but she didn't know they were about two men. We were having dinner somewhere, my sister, mother, and me, when my mother, who reads romance, expressed an interest in them. She's read my old non-erotic het historicals. I just sat there in silence, because really I'm not sure I like the idea of my mother reading my erotic romances no matter who is in them. But, my sister piped in and told her that they were homosexual romances. My mother is a strange one. She's conservative in her political thoughts, but she just shrugged, and went something to the affect, "Oh, that's nice." Not that she continued the idea of reading them, of course.

Anyway, because it is her birthday a large group of us are going out for a fancy steak dinner (paid for thankfully by the lawyer sister, lol). Probably the last time we'll see my brother and his wife as they are moving to Kansas the next day.

Over the next two weeks I'll be around but perhaps not quite as visible as usual. I have little mini-trips planned two weekends in a row. And yes, no suprise here, one is to Solvang and Morro Bay again. The other is to Disneyland (visitors coming). Disneyland in August. Pray for me.

I'm working on two works in progress. Just did my edits for Twice in a Lifetime and they were easy (no cover yet though). Busy, busy.

If I don't pop on here again before the weekend, have a great one.

Having a Lovely Time

Not getting any writing done though.

Yes, I'm Vacationing Again (writing too)

I've been working forever on the chapter I'm on for a while. It's the first sex scene between Rex and Jude. I want it to be hot and good. Needless to say my self-imposed deadline isn't going to be made. Grrrr.

I'm off for the next few days. I am bringing my precious laptop this time.

The first day I will be in Solvang. Here are some pictures.

After that, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I will be in Morro Bay. This is the view from our hotel last time.

So I'll be around (I think)

Thursday Updates

I'll be gone Saturday and Sunday to Morro Bay and I'm not bringing my laptop. It's really shocking because I just got my beautiful ice blue baby this week and have hardly had a chance to pet it, plus Morro Bay motels have free internet. I can't tell you the number of places I've been where that is NOT the case.

Still it's only a couple of days and I made the decision I needed a mini-break from it. I'm rather obsessed with my computer. Plus it's a good rehearsal for later in the month when I am going to Denver for a couple of days for work and won't have internet access as I'll be stuck in meetings the entire time. Even the dinner is mandatory.

I'll be taking some pictures while in Morro Bay to post for later. As I think I've said, I set The Beach House in Morro Bay so I thought it would be fun to post pictures from where John and Mason hang out.

Anyway, so there won't be any posts on the blog either Saturday or Sunday this week and unless I can think of something mind-blowing for Friday I probably won't do much of a post Friday either. I'm getting a bit lazy I guess.

Twice in a Lifetime is coming along. I've only been able to write at lunch this week on it but since I have no real deadline except for the one in my head, I'm okay with that. Jude's first love was murdered so there's a bit more angst there. It's going to take some effort on Rex's part to convince Jude to give them a chance. Oh, Jude will be willing to have sex at some point (though I'm all the way through three chapters and no sex in sight, lol), but he'll be harder to convince to become involved in a more permanent arrangement. It's hard to believe that Sweet Reunion, where we first met Jude, briefly, was almost a year ago already. Time flies.

Hell, once I safely send Jude and Rex off into the sunset of happiness, I'll be working on The Other Side 2, AKA, The Same Side. By the time I have it finished and a release date it will be nearly two years. I plan on putting Nick and Ray through the ringer, too. And yes, be warned right now, spoiler alert, I am breaking them up. You'll just have to read it to see what happens.

That will take me into late summer and the next project. After that...who knows.

I ended up rambling a bit there, I know.

You Know How I Feel About Tuesdays

A couple reminders first.

Don’t forget to enter to win Only In His Dreams being released this weekend.

Don’t forget to send me any questions you have for Ashtyn. A few of you have but not as many as I thought would.

The work-in-progress is going pretty well, I think. My intention is to have it done no later than the end of March and hopefully before. Then I will be sending it off for review.

His One and Only, the fourth and final story in my only series, is on temporary hold while I finish the story noted above. Once it’s off I will finish His One and Only.

Most of you are aware my bff is Shayne. He has been strongly suggesting an idea for a story that he would very much like to see me write. I am afraid I indulged him and agreed to do it.

Now I don’t know whether you are aware, but Amber Quill’s Allure line has opened for submissions for certain themes. The information can be found on the website but one of the themes is Hot Summer Daze and is supposed to involve summer love affairs (that become much more). The story Shayne wants me to write fit in well here, therefore, I will be releasing a story as part of the series and my story is called, The Beach House.

I will provide more details as to content later when I begin to write it.

A Favorite Destination

Those of you familiar with At Long Last will know that Scott and Preston go to Morro Bay for a weekend. It is one of Scott's favorite places and he hopes to live there some day. Well, Scott feels this way because Shawn does. I want to live there some day. Alas, for now it is a mere dream. That lovely picture you see to the left is El Morro Rock in Morro Bay. It really is that beautiful.

I am going there this weekend. This is my re-charge place.
