There's still a week left to enter the contest to win Galaxy's Heart, Sutter's Bay 3. Last day is May 12th. Winner will be announced May 13th.
As an added incentive, if you win and do not own the previous two in the Series, I'll give you those too. Such a deal. If you already have those...well you still will get Galaxy's Heart if you win. lol.
I'm working like a fiend on Lost Between and I'm really liking what I'm doing with it so far. In the last few days I've written 7000 words. I seriously doubt I will make the Ghost Pax, but the story will be released on its own if I don't. I expect it to be done before the end of the month regardless.

Galaxy's Heart (Sutter's Bay 3) Contest
Official Amber Allure Blurb:
Ten years ago, Galaxy Winthrop had a one-night stand with the hottest guy ever. Galaxy also remembered one other thing from that night—the man's mention of the Northern California town, Sutter's Bay, where he once lived. Now, Galaxy has made it his mission to save his troubled little brother, Leo. The once-bright, bubbly kid has become sullen, quiet, and despondent. The quaint, picturesque Sutter's Bay seems the perfect location to start a new life for himself and Leo.
Adam Colfer returned to Sutter's Bay to run his dad's diner after his passing. He'd thought he'd left the town behind when he moved to San Francisco, but it seemed Sutter's Bay had other plans. The last person Adam expects to find in his little burb is Galaxy. After an explosive night of sex with Galaxy a decade earlier, Adam had awoken to an empty bed. But now Galaxy is in Sutter's Bay, with a troubled brother in tow, and Adam can't help but wonder if this is his second chance to win Galaxy's heart.*
*Though, Galaxy's Heart is part of a series it is a standalone and you do not have to read the prior two in the series, though you certainly may.
The contest runs from now until May 12th. I'll have all formats available to send once the story releases on or about May 15th. Leave a comment to enter. Good luck.

Change of Plans, A Contest and Hiatus
Okay a couple of things.
I’ve decided not to write The Way to Forever. That was the vacation story, part of the Postcards From Paradise series. It just wasn’t working. I hated the idea of abandoning the story, but when even changing the location of the vacation didn’t lead to inspiration for me I decided it was time to throw in the towel. I contacted the Editorial Director at AQ and he was just as nice as can be about my failure. I think my problem is I said yes to writing this story before I actually had any ideas in mind. So from now on, if I can’t think of an appropriate idea BEFORE volunteering, I won’t.
So the good news is I can use the name Billy for another story down the line. I’m working on other stories that I feel much more warm and fuzzy regarding.
Now for the other. I’m going to be busy for the next few weeks with real life issues pressing in on me. I'm going on hiatus. So, here’s what I am going to leave you with.
I’m having a contest. Just an ordinary comment one. Make a comment from now until I return to posting probably April 25th. I’m going to choose FIVE random winners to win their choice of anything off my backlist (including my two paperbacks if desired) or they can choose one of my upcoming releases, Galaxy’s Heart (Sutter’s Bay 3) coming in May or Becoming His coming in June.
So, comment away. Which can just be "I want to enter". And Good luck.

Galaxy's Heart, Sutter's Bay 3 and Other News
I have finished the third Sutter's Bay story, Galaxy's Heart. Yes, ahead of the end of February. I was determined.
I've got a release date of May 15, 2011. So, that is good news.
I'm now moving on to my Postcards From Paradise story which will take my hero, Billy, to Ireland on vacation. The tentative title is The Way to Forever. That's subject to change.

Starting to Panic
So I realize I'm looking at the calendar and having heart palpitations.
Now I admit I don't do a ton of writing on weekends, I'm a during the week writer for the most part. This past weekend I managed to write 4 paragraphs.
Still, I am panicking. I am busy for the next three Saturdays. All that's left of February. And I am going to be perfectly honest in saying I am no where near finished with Galaxy's Heart. Since I really want to be finished by the end of month you can see where this is concerning.
My postcards from paradise story is due April 01. I've started it but barely. The bulk of it will begin March 01, thus why I need to be finished with Galaxy's Heart if I have any hope of getting it in the publishing schedule before summer. I'm not even sure I can write Billy's story (with a nod to Chris for the veri name for one of the heroes from my paradise story) in a month so I am already cutting myself short.
And March, may I say, is becoming absurdly busy already with plans. This does not comfort me.
Can I get Galaxy's Heart, Sutter's Bay 3, done by February 28?
Can I get my title-less paradise story starring Billy done by April 01?
I am beginning to doubt and therefore cue frenetic music.

This Post Is For Drew
I forgot who I borrowed the princes picture from but since I adore Disney and two guys it seemed appropriate.
My dear sweet Drew who is very special to me prompted this post. He told me he missed my posting, so I created this one for him.
Let's see. I got my edits for Accidentally His my story coming in March and I have to say I liked it better than I thought I did. It amused me quite a bit. It's a fun, lightherted story starring Kirk and Elijah. Eventually I will get around to writing a story for two of the other characters from it, Toby and Logan.
I've gotten basically what amounts to four chapters done on Galaxy's Heart so definitely making progress. But...er...I have this urge to work on my Regency I wanted to write like two years ago with the butler and the third son of a duke or earl I was calling, Undeniable. I know, gasp. I'm sure this is because I have absolutely no time to write on anything so it sneaks up on me. My brain needs to be put in its place!

And...
I'm working on Sutter's Bay 3, Galaxy's Heart and making progress. My goal is the end of February but it would be smashing to have it done before then.
I've also started the next story which needs to be completed (I think by April 01). This is the story that is based on a vacation theme, Postcards From Paradise. There is a call for submissions on Amber Quill's site for those looking to break into AQ.
Anyway, I don't have a title for this story yet, although I vaguely thought of one the other night while trying to fall asleep. I'm batting it around a bit in my brain before I commit to that. I do have a name for one of the hero's thanks to Chris's veri word the other day. Yes, he will be Billy. Billy travels to Ireland on his vacation and begins an affair with a hot Irishman.
That's where I'm at, writing-wise.

Accidentally His...news
As you will see from the side bar, I finished Accidentally His, and ahead of my own deadline. It's been scheduled for March 20, 2011. So that gives me a release the first three months of the year. 2011 is starting off well.
I'll admit right now that Accidentally His is a very light story. Just something I wanted to write based on my days of riding the bus.
Here's the blurb (not excerpt):
Kirk Matheson rides the bus to work several times a week, intrigued by the quiet bespectacled man he sits behind. When the bus crashes during a storm, Kirk finally meets the shy man, Elijah Cartwright. After Kirk stays with a seriously injured Elijah until the rescuers arrive, he makes a date with Elijah for when he recovers. Though an unfortunate event brought them together, can they find their way to happiness?
I'm now moving full steam ahead to Galaxy's Heart. It's got more angst to it. I hope to have it finished no later than February 28, 2011.

More Updates
I'm going to be blogging slightly less in 2011, I think. I'll still post at least a couple times a week, no fear there, but I decided trying to keep a schedule and posting particular things on certain dates wasn't really working the way I wanted them to work.
This may be good news for some of you who might be going, ugh, she's posting something else again! lol. As I said, I'll still post regularly, but I'm not sticking to a schedule and I'm not worrying about posting on certain days.
I'm very close to having Accidentally His finished, which is good, because I'm ready to get working on Sutter's Bay 3, Galaxy's Heart while there is still time. Yeah, yeah, I have two real deadlines to meet by June 01, but I'm trying to get Accidentally His and Galaxy's Heart in there before I have to worry too much about the others.
Accidentally His is the start, sort of, to a mini-series. And by mini-series, I mean there will be another related book (different couple). I don't think there will be any others after that but you never know as series books seem to do very well for me (Only Forever and Sutter's Bay have been quite successful). The next one can't come until after June though. Busy, busy until then.
Somehow, I get myself talked into agreeing to write themed books and so the two "deadline" books fall into this category. I really need to stop that nonsense, lol. More on those books as the time comes closer.

Monday Updates - the first for 2011
Update: Chris and Luciatea have correctly answered the too easy questions and are the winners of the upcoming release of Pulling Apart on Jaunary 09, 2011. Congrats!
Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Hard to believe we've started 2011.
I've been busily working on Accidentally His. I've given myself a due date of January 15th, and I intend to meet this date. If it kills me. Or something.
I'm really itching to get working on Sutter's Bay #3, Galaxy's Heart. I've been doing some light stuff lately and Accidentally His is no exception and that's fine. But I'm wanting to get back to the angst a bit and that story will fulfill that for me. And I so want to do it before I get too heavily involved in the stories I must have done later this year.
Okay, a few newsie things.
Beginning in 2011, I am going to be doing a mostly monthly newsletter. It will probably come out around releasing books, so don't expect to get bombarded with meaningless stuff. That's not my intention. If I don't have a release for whatever month, I may not even send a newsletter for that month. Anyway, the fabulous Ava March is helping me with this since I am fairly clueless about tech stuff. She has added a sign-up form for the newsletter on the blog and on my website: authorshawnlane.com so either will work to sign up. Try it!
Two, it's time for the Pulling Apart contest.
Now, honestly, I think you need to have read Pulling Away in order to read Pulling Apart. But that's up to you. Rather than doing a comment contest, I'm going to do it this way:
I'm giving away two copies. In order to win one, you must be the first person to leave your answer here on the blog to one of two questions. Please do not answer both questions. Just one of the two. If you are correct, you win one copy. I hope that makes sense.
Here are the two questions (first to answer one question wins)
1) What is the name of the West Hollywood Bar that Noah goes to with Kevin?
2) Is Noah a top or bottom? *grins*
All right. That's it for now.
Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Hard to believe we've started 2011.

Updates
Updates are going here today since I’ve been posting free holiday stories on normal update days.
I’ve been working on Accidentally His again lately. I hope to have it completed by the middle of January, if not before. I should have another story related to this one but with different heroes later in 2011.
I’d like to turn my attention to Galaxy’s Heart, Sutter’s Bay 3, once Accidentally His is finished. If I can get that story done by the end of February or earlier, that should still give me plenty of time to work on my “Postcards From Paradise” story I volunteered for at AQ. My paradise vacation story will be in Ireland though. That’s paradise to me.
Once that is done, I have to look to my other obligated story, which is a ghost story. Yes, you can hear the enthusiasm, can’t you? Just how do you get a HEA when one of your heroes has been dead for hundreds of years? Beats me, too. But I shall try.
As you can see, this is already taking up the first six months of 2011. Sigh. And there is a story I really want to get to. Ah, well, I’ll get to it and several others before 2011 is finished, I am sure.
Speaking of free stories, Kevin’s latest free story, Viva Las Christmas, will be posted on Monday, December 20th, if it kills me. Might. At this point I am looking at one long part but I may be forced to split it into two. I’ll try not to make it too many parts though.
Once that free story is finished posting, I will be posting a best wishes for the holiday season blog and probably taking the remainder of 2010 off, with the blog returning January 03, 2011 (in time for a contest for my first release, Pulling Apart).
