The Beginning of Another Week

Well I didn't make as much progress on Only His Heart as I would have wanted to over the weekend. I did finish another chapter, but I really need to have it done by this coming weekend or it's going to be unfinished for a while as I will most definitely need to turn my attention beginning February 8th to Still the One (due March 1st). Anyway, so one chapter this past weekend compared to three the weekend before is not great. I have no excuse either than I caught Ava's lazy-itis. lol.

Obviously Still the One has a real deadline and Only His Heart has a self-imposed one, so this week really is the last one I can devote to Only His Heart before things get very serious.

I'm pushing Only His Heart because it would be simply lovely if it could be scheduled for May because than my only stories would come out one each three months in a row. Wouldn't that be lovely? And I know Still the One won't be out until June. Wouldn't it be grand to have four months is a row of releases? I think so.

The weekend wasn't complete laziness. I did get through the first seven chapters of Sinful. Originally this story was a het fantasy medieval historical (good versus evil, sorcerers, magic, warriors with big...swords). I have been convinced to turn it into a gay fantasy medieval historical romance but this has not been easy. Original plot elements have had to be discarded altogether because it simply won't work for two men. So, getting through converting the first seven chapters was certainly progress.

I hope that everyone has a good week. I know many of my regulars are having icky weather, so stay indoors and stay safe.

  1. Four books in a row - would't that just be lovely for you...

But so tiring as well - with the promo and all...

mmmhhh on the historical - I'll wait to sample it... I am gun shy of historicals at the moment..

I read Ava's work last year and enjoyed them alot...

  2. EH, it's not just a "historical", which I understand is not your thing. I deliberately label it as fantasy/paranormal as trust me it's not true medieval England. I know that's not everyone's thing either, but it probably will be my first m/m novel for what its worth. Anyway there is magic and spellcasting etc etc, so if that's not where your enjoyment is, it's cool

Yes please sign me up - Love fantasy...

Does this book involve a lot of research as so little is know about m/m in time of broadswords and wenches..

  4. Maybe. Obviously men have managed to be with men for many centuries, it's certainly not a modern notion. The nice thing about it is, since it's fantasy and in my head I can arrange for a pretty decent HEA. I'm a big fan of fantasy based roll playing games in the video game world, in particular the Final Fantasy series, so a lot of my fantasy, magic, and tragic background for my heroes comes from there.

Anyway, the "project" as it stands is something that definitely takes a bit of time so I work on it only when the interest sparks my little mind.

I do find stories that take a bit more complication or research do sometimes get thrust aside. Thus why my police detectives, seriel killer story, Never the One, keeps getting bumped from the T-B-W pile. Which reminds me, I seriously need to get the sequel to The Other Side done too. Grrr. There needs to be more time. AND I need to prevent the brain from thinking of new material. lol.

  5. That lazy-itis is quite contageous. LOL

I'm sure OHH will be done by next weekend - you won't be able to resist the chance to have 4 mths in a row of releases ;) Of course, I'm happy you plan to finish it this week, because I want to read how it ends. It would be just cruel of you to leave me hanging for a month, while you write Still the One. *g*

  6. Shawn, you have so many irons in the fire! I don't know how you keep up with them all. Good luck on meeting those deadlines. I know you can do it.

  8. Well, I can send you some of my snow to cool you off, or maybe you'd prefer some good old southern sweet tea?

You know those books will get written and they will be wonderful. Don't stress.

  9. I do get stressed over those deadlines, the self-imposed and the real ones. But most of them are of my own making and with like two exceptions I have always made them. There were a couple I missed by two or three days and I beat the crap out of myself for it believe me. And actually I give myself deadlines in order to force myself to write or I'd develop a permanent case of Ava Lazy-itis and I doubt any of you would want that, lol
