Story Updates, Reissues, Orphaned Stories

Okay so not that much to report. Perfect Man comes out next week, which is a reissue of my story with EC. Then in June Trust and Another Chance, two more EC stories make their appearance with JMS Books. I am glad these three stories will get to see the light of day again considering the disastrous conclusion at EC where I went many months without payment for sales of them. The covers for two of the stories appear there on the left.

Loose ID is now history and with that house closing I now have several more orphaned stories. At Long Last, Car Wash and Most Likely to Succeed have all been orphaned for the second time. Also, The Crush Revisted, California Dreaming, and One More Time too. I'll be looking in to what to do with all those stories.

In the meantime I am working on a new story that I expect to submit for a sub call later this summer. I am hoping to get a few more stories done too. New ones. Old reissues are nice. But new material would be nice too.

That's about it for me. I'll check in later in the summer.

Well Another One Closing

As you may have heard, one of my last two publishers, Loose ID, is folding. By May 2018, they will be gone.

This will leave orphaned (AGAIN) At Long Last, Car Wash, and Most Likely to Succeed.
It will also orphan One More Time, The Crush Revisted, California Dreaming, and More Than Summer.

It's very discouraging to say the least.

Honestly, I doubt any of those will see the light of day once the closure goes through and the rights revert to me. All this closing of publishers has frankly just about killed my enthusiasm for writing stories for publication, self or otherwise.

These stories and me, may be done.

September Updates

As you will see to the right, More Than Summer, my free summer story with Loose Id was released at the end of August. Also The Squire is once more available.

Up next is the second part to Sorcerer's Lover. Maybe some day I will write Part 3 as I meant to. Who knows.

I am trying to get a Christmas story finished and into JMS before the end of the month. Wish me luck, because I will need it.

I think I still have one or two reissues still to come but then that will be it.

And that's it for me. Hope you enjoyed the summer

June Updates

You will see that I updated the side bar with my latest covers of Amber Quill Re-Releases coming in July.

Besides those releases, I also wrote a new short story which was contracted as a free short story with Loose Id called More Than Summer. No release day but since it was part of their summer stories I am guessing it won't be in the too distant future. Because it is a free short story it will have some kind of generic cover.

California Dreaming - New Release from Loose ID

California Dreaming is now available to buy.
From ARe
From AMZ

Please note, though on their own website, Loose Id says Flings are under 20,000 words, they have decided to designate this story as a "fling" for pricing purposes. However, again based on current information on their site, at 24,000 words, it should be a novella. Ah, well, I just write 'em!

Below is the blurb from Loose Id.

You can never go home again. But Michael “Mick” Lawler is doing just that after an absence of ten years. Mick left California when his first love, Joe, chose his twin sister, Raine, over him. Joe and Raine married and a broken-hearted. Mick left behind everything he’d ever known.

Settling first in Chicago, Mick met his sexy as sin fellow lawyer, Zach Covington. When Zach left Chicago for sunny Florida, Mick went with his best friend. Life is great. He has a good job, a nice apartment, and Zach close by. Sure, Mick is in love with seemingly unobtainable player, Zach, but just having Zach in his life is enough. Or so Mick thinks.

When Raine calls one night to tell him Joe is dead, she begs her brother to come back to California. Mick agrees to return but he’s not going alone. Zach insists on going. Once there, Mick has to deal with his grieving twin, his estranged parents, and his newfound, sudden sexual relationship with Zach. But Raine and his parents have a request of Mick…move back to California permanently. Sounds great. But there’s Zach. Can he really leave the man who holds his heart behind for some California Dreaming?

Story Plans

I'm attempting to write a Christmas story. We'll see if I make it. It has to be done and in prior to September 30th in order to make it into JMS Books for consideration. I have no title for it and probably won't until I know I actually got it done.

Once that's done, I'm not sure if I will write anything else this year. I'd like to get some work done for 2017 but this has been a full year for me of re-releases and even a couple of new works like Restaurant Wars, California Dreaming, and the possible Christmas story.

So we'll see. The market is pretty saturated and I've seen a few authors recently announce they were quitting. I'm not ready to do that, but I have to admit today's market is tough to navigate. So, we'll see what happens.

Most Likely to Succeed is Available from Loose Id

Most Likely to Succeed is available again from Loose Id. This story has been re-edited by Loose Id so there are some changes. Now the changes that were made are not enough to change the essence of the story, but there were a couple of changes that did change some elements, for example, Clark takes on a partner at the firm at the end of the book. That sort of thing. But again, the jist of story remains the same.

California Dreaming

A few weeks ago I finished my story, California Dreaming. It was my first new story in a while and actually a story I had started some time ago but then never got around to finishing. When AQ went out of business earlier that sprung me into action with California Dreaming and I began working on it in earnest. I completed it and sent it off to Loose Id for consideration a few weeks ago and today received a contract offer. I am so excited by this story as I truly love my characters, Mick and Zach. I hope you will too. I will post more about the story later in the year. I anticipate it won't be out from Loose Id before November or so.

Story Updates May 2016

I've sold Car Wash to Loose Id. It's still in the contract phase, but I figured it's pretty safe to announce it. As this is many readers favorite book of mine I feel this is pretty cool news. I know there will be some revisions to the work as there has been to both At Long Last and Most Likely to Succeed.

I'm well on my way to having my work in progress finished. I am hoping to have it finished by the end of May but that's coming up scary fast.

That's the news for now

Al Long Last: Scott & Preston

At Long Last: Scott and Preston is now available for purchase.

Originally released as the titles At Long Last and Until the End of Time, At Long Last: Scott and Preston has been packaged together in one convenient book. Some revision has been done but the crux of the stories is the same.

Anyway, here is my wonderful Ginny Glass Cover.

Shawn Lane Updates

So the latest news from me is the following:

At Long Last: Scott & Preston comes out in exactly one week from Loose Id. This is the combination of both At Long Last and Until the End of Time. Some editing has been done on this work to change a few things, but the story is essentially the same.

Most Likely to Succeed has been contracted with Loose Id and is in the very first stages of edits. I don't have any release information on it yet.

Finally His, probably my most popular His story, has found a new home with JMS Books. I signed the contract today and am excited to be working with JMS Books for the first time. I don't have an exact release date but I believe it will be this summer in July.

So that's the latest release information.

I am working on a new story that I suspect is about 1/2 to 3/4 done. Once I do have it finished, hopefully by the summer, I'll see where it will go.

At the moment I still have no immediate plans to self-publish but that could change

At Long Last: Scott & Prestion

Here's my cover done by artist, Ginny Glass, for my upcoming release at Loose Id of the combined package that includes both At Long Last and Until the End of Time. The packaged stories are due out on May 03, 2016 from Loose Id

Most Likely to Succeed offered contract

I thought about what to do with Most Likely to Succeed, one of my best selling novellas, and also one of my personal favorites. I considered paying to retain the cover and self-publishing it, but as I think I have said, I'm not yet ready to jump on the self-publishing bandwagon. Maybe at some point I will be. I still have a lot of orphaned stories with the closing of AQ.

Anyway, I decided, ultimately, to offer Most Likely to Succeed to Loose Id. They had already offered me a contract for At Long Last/Until the End of Time, and considering Most Likely to Succeed was one of the two other stories that made up the Lawyers in Love stories, it seemed natural to see of Loose Id wanted it as well.

And I am pleased to say they did. I have been offered a contract from Loose Id to republish Most Likely to Succeed.

That leaves Car Wash out of the three original Lawyers in Love tales. What to do with Car Wash which is still the favorite of many of my readers and holds a huge, huge soft spot for me. I don't know yet. So stay tuned.

Release Dates and Progress

Okay looks like we are looking at May 03, 2016 as the re-release of At Long Last and Until the End of Time with Loose Id. I wouldn't say the story has substantially changed but I have made a few revisions. Anyway, that's the latest on that.

I am working on an untitled story at the moment and am making progressing, slowly, but surely. I originally hoped to have it done by the end of March but that's just not going to happen.

At Long Last and Until the End of Time Update

Well now that the contracts have been signed and officially acknowledged I can mention that I have sold the rights to At Long Last and it's sequel, Until the End of Time, to be re-released by Loose Id sometime later this year. Since Scott and Preston hold a special place in my heart this is good news that they will be out in the publishing world again once the closing of Amber Quill concludes later this month. There will be some edits on At Long Last and Until the End of Time but not sure to what extent at this point. I do know the plan is to package them together when the time comes.

At this point I have no other news on the fate of my other Amber Quill work including Most Likely to Succeed or Car Wash. When I do I will post here.

The Crush Revisited Now Available from Loose ID

Tim Olfander escapes his busy, hectic life in LA at his ten year high school reunion in the city he left behind years ago, Lincoln Hill. There, at the resort the reunion has booked, his gaze falls almost instantly on the sexy, pretty guy behind the check-in counter. He chats up the guy only to learn he is the assistant manager, Brandon Collins.

Tim instantly sets in motion his plan to spend the week at the resort with Brandon's sweet body under his. He has no clue Brandon knows him from their high school days.

Back then, Brandon was a shy, closeted nerd who had a big crush on Tim, following him around at school. Now it seems fate has thrown Brandon's former crush at him in the form of the now hotter than ever Tim, who also seems to have sex with Brandon on the brain. Brandon gives into his baser needs, not to mention his old fantasies, for a week long smoldering affair with the crush he never dreamed he'd revisit.

Quick Update and Mini-Contest

It's time for an update for anyone possibly paying attention.

I'm hard at work on edits for The Crush Revisited coming soon from Loose Id.  I'll update the blog when I have a release date, but my best guess is late summer. My best guess could be wrong! This my longest Shawn Lane book yet coming in around 34,000 words or so.

I also don't have a release date yet for Burning Love coming from Evernight Publishing but I do know it should in in June.  Once I've gone through my edits, I should be returning to work on Arresting Love which is a companion story of sorts to Burning Love.

I have lots to do later this year too including writing Lincoln Hill Book #2 (related to The Crush Revisted).

In the meantime, I've decided to do a mini-contest. Just so no one forgets I'm still here. Take a look at my website at www.authorshawnlane.com. You can find my book list of available titles there (please note one title, Beyond the Norm, is not available at this time). I'll give a free copy of any of my available ebooks to the first 5 people who email me at authorshawnlane@gmail.com with their format choice. The contest ends Thursday, May 23, at Midnight Pacfic time or when I announce that all the winners have received books, so get me that email soon.

Coming Soon Stories

As you will see from the sidebar over there I have two coming soon books. The Crush Revisited (Lincoln Hill #1) from Loose Id (date to be determined) and Burning Love from Evernight Publishing (date to be determined).

While I await edits for both of the contracted stories, I am currently hard at work on the next Lincoln Hill story, The Secret Revealed, and Arresting Love, which is the next story after Burning Love.

I'll post updates as I have them.

End of the Hop, A New Release, and A New Contract

Thanks for all those who participated in the Evernight Publishing Boyfriend Blog Hop. It is now closed and I will be announcing the winner of the $10 Evernight Gift Certificate later this week.

And speaking of I am pleased to advise my latest MM Romance on the Go with Evernight, The Right Time For Love, is now available for purchase at their site and various third party sellers including Bookstrand, All Romance eBooks, and Amazon. Get your copy today as it includes a cute nurse and a hunky cop.

In the meantime, I have some exciting news. The Crush Revisited, the first in my Lincoln Hill planned trilogy has found a home at Loose Id. I don't have any details yet as we are just in the contract stage but I couldn't resist mentioning that I have the offer and have accepted it. More to come as I learn the details.
